Custom Pedestrian Gates for a Dallas Hotel Entrance
Horizontal-slat steel pedestrian gates fabricated to fit stone masonry openings at a boutique hotel entrance, hung square and finished to match the facade.

Built to the stonework, not to a standard width
These gates sit inside finished masonry, which leaves no room to fudge anything. Stone columns are never perfectly plumb to one another and the reveal is rarely the same at the head as it is at the threshold, so we measured each opening at several heights and fabricated to what was actually there. A stock panel forced into a gap like this binds on one jamb and shows daylight on the other.
Everything is welded and finished in our own shop before it reaches site, which is the only way to hold a tolerance this tight. The process is on our gate installation page.
Horizontal slats that match the building
The slat rhythm was drawn to sit with the facade rather than against it: close enough for security and privacy at street level, open enough to keep light and sightlines through the passage. On a hotel elevation the gate is part of the architecture, and a stock picket panel would have read as an add-on.
Steel makes that possible, with slim members that carry themselves without sagging over a tall opening, joints ground flush, and a finish specified for constant sun and weather. How we fabricate and finish this work is under iron and metal.
Hung square, swinging true, in working hours
Hinges were set into the masonry, the leaves hung and adjusted until each one swung true and latched cleanly without dragging on the slate threshold. Our own employees did the fabrication and the fitting, so there was no handover between a shop and an installer to lose a measurement in.
