Horizontal slats, run level across a sloping drive
Horizontal cedar is the hardest privacy style to build well. The boards span between posts with nothing above them to hide a sag, so the framing has to be heavier and the posts closer together than a standard vertical run, and every line has to hold true along the length of the drive. Get the spacing wrong and the middle of each bay drops within a season.
Cedar is the species we use above ground here for the same reason we use it everywhere in North Texas: it holds its shape through the wet-dry cycle far better than treated pine. The comparison is in our wood fence climate guide, and the build detail is on our wood fence installation page.
A sliding gate that disappears into the fence line
The driveway gate is built in the same horizontal slats and slides along the fence line, so the opening reads as part of the run rather than a panel dropped into a gap. A slide also keeps the drive clear, which matters on a lot where a swing leaf would have to arc back over parked cars.

A four-foot iron barrier around the water
Inside the timber boundary, the pool is enclosed separately in four-foot flat-top iron. That second barrier is what Texas code is concerned with: height measured from the finished grade, picket spacing tight enough that nothing passes through, no horizontal rail on the outside face for a child to climb, and a gate that self-closes and self-latches away from the water.
Flat-top iron keeps sightlines open across the yard while doing the safety job, which is why it suits a pool surround better than a solid panel. The full specification is on our pool fence installation page, and the ironwork itself is covered under iron and metal fencing.
Three structures, one crew, one sequence
Timber boundary, automated gate and iron pool barrier would normally mean three trades and three schedules. Our direct employees set every post, poured every footing and ran the gate wiring, so the fence line, the gate posts and the pool enclosure were laid out against each other from the start rather than fitted around work already done.
