Eight-Foot Iron Slide Gate and Stucco Columns
An eight-foot ornamental iron perimeter with a sliding driveway gate hung between rendered stucco columns, running on LiftMaster CSL24U operators, with CSW24U operators on the swing gates.

Eight feet of ornamental iron, gates included
This perimeter runs eight feet tall in ornamental iron, with the pickets extended above the top rail so the line reads as a single continuous barrier rather than a fence with a gate dropped into it. Panels at this height carry serious wind load, so the framing and post sizing matter as much as the picket pattern. How we build these runs is set out on our iron and metal fencing page.
The gates are hung between rendered stucco columns. Masonry columns are unforgiving: they are fixed in place, they are rarely perfectly plumb to one another, and a panel built to a nominal width will bind or leave a gap. We measure the finished opening at more than one height and fabricate to what is actually there, the same approach described on our gate installation page.
A sliding panel that keeps the driveway clear
The driveway gate slides rather than swings, so the panel travels along the fence line and never arcs out into the approach. That matters at this height and weight: an eight-foot swing leaf needs a wide clear radius and a great deal of torque to move it, while a slide panel needs lateral run space instead. Slide gates carry their own safety geometry. We keep the gap between the panel and the fixed fence under the ASTM F2200 limit so nothing can reach through as the gate travels, guard the rollers, and wire the photoelectric sensors the UL 325 standard requires. Four operators, matched to what each gate has to move
The property runs four LiftMaster operators: a pair of CSL24U slide units on the sliding gates and a pair of CSW24U swing units on the swing gates. Both are commercial-grade motors rated for continuous daily cycling, which is the right class for heavy iron panels and steady in-and-out traffic. A residential unit under this load overheats, and the repair calls start within the first year.
Each operator sits on its own concrete pad with conduit cast into the pour, so no wiring is drilled through cured concrete afterwards. Our employees set the travel limits, tested the reversal on every leaf, and programmed the entry hardware. Our own employees, start to finish
Every stage here was handled by direct Star Gate & Fence employees: the footings, the iron, the operator pads, the electrical runs and the final safety testing. No part of it was passed to an outside crew, which is why one point of contact can answer for the whole build.
