Iron panels that could no longer stay in service
A commercial gate takes far more cycles than a home gate, and every opening puts load on the frame, the rollers and the posts. On this property the iron panels had reached the point where they had to come down. Rust had worked into the bottom rail, where water sits and where the gate takes the most wear.
We removed the damaged sections and laid them out on site so the frames, welds and pickets could be checked one by one. That shows what can be repaired and what has to be replaced before anything goes back up. How we assess damaged gates is on our gate repair page.
Frames repaired and the gate put back on the entrance
The ornamental frames, scrollwork included, were repaired so the gate kept its original look and matched the fence line it sits in. Repairing sound steel instead of replacing whole panels keeps the frontage consistent and the cost down for the property owner. Our steel work is covered on the iron and metal fencing page.
The gate was then installed back across the entrance and aligned on its travel path, so it moves cleanly without dragging or binding. Commercial entrances like this one are what our commercial gate and fence service is built around.
Operator and safety checks before handover
A repaired gate is only finished when it runs on its operator again. Our technicians worked on the operator at the gate post, then tested the open and close cycle and the safety devices with the gate back in place. Every automated gate we work on is checked against the UL 325 safety requirements and ASTM F2200 gate construction standards.
