The problem

Old operators at the end of their life

An apartment entrance gate opens and closes all day, every day. The operators on these gates had been doing that for years, and it showed: worn housings, exposed control boards and drive parts that had taken a beating from heat, rain and constant cycling.

At that stage, patching individual parts only buys a few weeks. We opened the units up, checked the drive and the boards, and recommended replacing the operators rather than repairing them again. How we decide between repair and replacement is on our gate repair page.

New LiftMaster slide gate operators

We installed new LiftMaster slide gate operators on their pads beside the gate posts, connected the drive chain to the gates and wired them in through conduit. LiftMaster is built for commercial duty cycles like this one and is the brand we install most on busy entrances.

Our direct employees set the open and close limits and tested the safety devices before handover. Every automated gate we work on is checked against UL 325 and ASTM F2200. More on the range is on our LiftMaster gate operators page.

The service

Track, chain and hardware brought back into line

A new operator will not last if the gate fights it. We cleared the track channel along the curb, where leaves and grit build up and make a slide gate drag, and checked the chain, the bottom rail and the guides at each post.

With the gate moving freely, the operator works less on every cycle, which is what keeps it running for years instead of months. Commercial entrances like this are what our commercial gate and fence service covers.
